AcrEase Pull-Behind Mowers for Polaris Ranger

Last updated: September 30, 2026. Prices update automatically from our live catalog.

A Polaris Ranger is a natural tow vehicle for a Kunz AcrEase mower. Polaris lists a standard 2-inch receiver on the Ranger SP 570, Ranger 1000, Ranger XP 1000, and Ranger XD 1500, with tow ratings from 1,500 lbs (SP 570) to 3,500 lbs (XD 1500). Kunz lists AcrEase mowers at 235 to 580 lbs, so tow capacity is not the limiting factor on these Rangers. Every AcrEase carries its own engine, so the Ranger only has to pull it.

Free shipping, battery included. Every AcrEase mower ships free to the contiguous US from Farm & Trail by LTL freight with liftgate service, and electric start models include a free battery.

Hitch and Tongue Setup

AcrEase rough cut mowers use a standard farm clevis, a C-shaped coupler that Kunz says gives "excellent freedom of motion in all directions." On a Ranger, slide a 2-inch receiver drawbar with a pin hole into the rear receiver and drop the clevis pin through it. Skip the ball: Kunz notes a ball hitch is restricted to 12 degrees of motion side to side and up and down. The tow bar can be set to pull directly behind or fully offset to the side of the tow vehicle.

For the finish cut line behind a Ranger, Kunz pairs its finish cut mowers with the optional ATV tongue, which hitches to the tow vehicle's existing hitch with a provided clevis pin. We stock the UTV tongue assembly for the H40B and the UTV/ATV tongue assembly for the Pro60K. For Pro60B and Pro60KWE tongue setup, call 877-203-4939 and we will confirm the right configuration.

Rough Cut or Finish Cut

Rough cut (MR44 and MR55 series) is for overgrown fields, pastures, trails, food plots, and light brush. Kunz builds them with 10-gauge decks, two blades, and a belt drive, with a conservative 2-inch sapling rating. Finish cut (H40B and Pro60 series) is for maintained grass where cut quality matters, such as large lawns, parks, and the acres around the house. Kunz puts rough cut mowing speed at 4 to 10 MPH and finish cut at 6 to 10 MPH in normal conditions. Full comparison on the Rough Cut & Finish Cut Mowers page.

Polaris Ranger Notes

  • Turf Mode: Polaris says VersaTrac Turf Mode unlocks the rear differential "for easier and tighter turns that won't tear up your lawn." That makes it a good match for finish cut mowing on maintained grass. The XD 1500 lists Turf and Ultra Turf settings. Switch back to AWD when you need traction on wet ground or hills.
  • Slopes: Kunz rates Kohler and Briggs & Stratton Commercial Turf engines for slopes up to 25 degrees, and says Briggs & Stratton Professional and Intek engines should not run on angles over 20 degrees for any length of time. Kunz also notes most tow vehicles become unstable after 20 to 25 degrees.
  • Useful add-ons: the 44" and 57" electric lift kits raise and lower the deck from the driver's seat, the wetlands kit is built for marshy ground, and the hour/tach meter keeps maintenance on schedule.
  • Outfitting the whole machine: browse Polaris UTV accessories and our Polaris Ranger KFI snow plow guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a Polaris Ranger pull a 57 inch rough cut mower?

Yes. Kunz lists the 57" MR55 series at 580 lbs. Polaris rates the Ranger SP 570 to tow 1,500 lbs and the Ranger 1000 and XP 1000 to tow 2,500 lbs.

Do I need a ball hitch?

No. AcrEase rough cut mowers use a farm clevis. Use a 2-inch receiver drawbar with a pin hole in your Ranger's receiver. Kunz notes a ball hitch limits the coupler to 12 degrees of motion.

Are AcrEase mowers PTO-driven?

No. Every AcrEase carries its own engine; the Ranger only pulls it.

Should I mow in Turf Mode?

Polaris designed VersaTrac Turf Mode to unlock the rear differential for tighter turns without tearing up a lawn, so it suits mowing maintained grass. On wet ground or slopes, switch to AWD for traction.

Manual or electric clutch?

Electric clutch models engage the blades with a switch, so you can start mowing from the seat. Manual clutch models carry a lower price.
