Note that the same size appears in two notations: 24-12.00-12 and 24x12.00-12 refer to the identical tire.
How to Read Your Tire Size
Zero-turn tire sizes follow a three-number format printed on the sidewall, for example 24-12.00-12:
- 24 is the overall tire diameter in inches, measured inflated and unloaded.
- 12.00 is the section width in inches, the widest point of the tire.
- 12 is the rim diameter in inches. This number must match your wheel exactly.
Common rear drive sizes include 18-8.50-8, 18-8.50-10, 24-9.50-12, 24-12.00-12, 26-12.00-12, and the low-profile 24-12.00-14. Front casters typically run 9-3.50-4, 11-6.00-5, 13-6.50-6, 15-6.00-6, or 16-6.50-8.
The letter following the size is the ply rating. B is a two-ply equivalent suited to residential use, C is a four-ply equivalent, and D or E ratings carry heavier commercial decks and attachments. Moving up in ply rating adds puncture resistance and sidewall stiffness at the cost of a firmer ride. TL on a listing indicates a tubeless construction.
